I read The Iliad a few years ago after reading The Song of Achilles. I meant to read The Odyssey at some point and now I have. I was originally planning on reading Fagles' translation, but ended up with a copy of Emily Wilson's new translation instead. It is incredibly clear and readable. I found th...

This book although a little challenging is a book worth learning and reading. It shows fun and hardship giving an aura of dramatic irony.

Lets analyze and see through an exampleHomer Version: Oh Flesh of my heartThe times have turned against usFor the Gods have intervenedIn our love for each...

The Odyssey. That epic tale. That slightly boring, must-have-been-the-translation, am-I-too-young-to-appreciate-this, epic tale.Don't get me wrong, I understand that this is a classic. And it has gotten very good reviews. Buuuut it started pretty slow. And it dragged on. Lots of telling and retellin...
