In this world of the Tudor court, women are little more than cattle to be traded for the purpose of getting a male heir to the throne and advancing certain noble families by means of producing such an heir. If this sounds crude, that's because it's exactly how it is in this novel. Vulgarity beneath ...

I tried reading this years ago when it blew up. I couldn't be bothered to care. I found it really dull and couldn't keep the players straight. Probably because I couldn't careless about it. I'd forgotten all about it until I read and reviewed her Changeling novel and was like "Ohhhh that author."Cle...

I started reading Philippa Gregory with the Cousins' War series, and I liked those well enough. I didn't understand why all the reviews were so scathing and disappointed.Well, now I get it. This book is worlds better than PG's most recent books. WORLDS. The characters feel like real people, not like...

I could hear a roll of muffled drums. But I could see nothing but the lacing on the bodice of the lady standing in front of me, blocking my view of the scaffold. I had been at this court for more than a year and attended hundreds of festivities; but never before one like this.I won a copy of The Oth...

For the first ~150-200 pages of The Other Boleyn Girl, it was a solid 3-stars. Then it meandered down to 2-stars. By page 350 it was a 1-star. The end was compelling enough to bump it back up to 2-stars. The Other Boleyn Girl can be fun, trashy entertainment. The factual basis is obviously tenuous a...

I liked this novel. The story of the sister of the famous Ann Boleyn. I would have given it 5 stars but I found Mary a bit too mousey to like very much but all in all it was a good read.
