Rather overblown and it goes on too long. I didn't much like any of the 3 main characters either who were hugely irritating. Not Gregory's best by a long chalk.

Philippa Gregory is an amazing author to me...There are none of her stories/books that are less than 4 stars to me...this book is simply a continuation on the "dramatization" of the 1600-1700 monarchies, but still entrancing.
Another addictive read from Philippa Gregory - I knew very little about Mary before I started, so I really enjoyed the suspense. It was nice not to know exactly what would happen for once!
Worst of her books in my opinion
