I enjoyed each of the characters, human or animal, and can't wait to make this a family favorite! I laughed, I got mad, and I cried... Mostly I smiled and enjoyed each adventure, one after another.

Sometimes you find a book which truly enchants you because everything about it is simply charming. For me, Jeanne Birdsall's debut novel, THE PENDERWICKS, is such novel. Just look at this subtitle: "A Summer Tale of Four Sisters, Two Rabbits and a Very Interesting Boy" -- absolutely lovely, isn't i...

Such a sweet, fun book. So reminiscent of the books of E. Nesbit. This is the story of 4 siblings, who go on a summer vacation with their father to a cottage in the Berkshires. A wonderful little story. The characters are great and we all really felt like we were friends with the whole family. It looked like something light and fun so I thought "Why not?". In November when I was distracted with school and nee...

I really enjoyed this book for what it was. It kept me up till late, I finished it in one day and it was exactly right. It is a kids' book though and I would have been obsessed with it and gotten lost in it at 10, but now I would just read it to my (very distant) kids again.

Loved the Penderwicks. The book has such an old-fashioned feel (including the cover); I think though adults might like it because it reminds them of their own childhoods, kids will still enjoy the adventure, humor, family relationships, and romance. Perfect summer read. I was a tiny bit thrown off b...

I enjoyed this little book very much. The Penderwick family is charming, if a little precious and a little too well behaved, but I would have enjoyed knowing them as a child or having them live in my neighborhood now!Their friendship with the boy and their help of him to accomplish his goals was refr...
