I took a break from all of the "new adult" fail I was reading to enjoy a scandalous period romance. It was good - and I'm looking forward to the other sisters' stories. At least with these types of books, when something ridiculous happens, I'm prepared - I mean, it's rakes and bluestockings or else ...
Nice plot. But everyone and everything is a bit too perfect. There is one big devil (the grandpa) and a bit of intrigue (phillip) but other than that, everything goes too smoothly.
To be honest I wouldn't have minded giving this book four stars for the scene where Prudence and Gideon meet alone (witty banter has my heart) but later the author becomes painfully long-winded. Miss Gracie is a rambler, it seems. There was just a lot of useless musing about, I mean. So three stars.
