I've seen the "sexy genie" plot found in The Pleasure Slave by Gena Showalter done so many times in the paranormal romance genre that nothing in this book was fresh... except the whole alien aspect. The set-up of these plots are usually that, the heroine finds some small object (like a jewelery box ...
"The Pleasure Slave" is book 2 in Gena Showalter's Imperia series, but it's in no way a sequel to The Stone Prince at any point during the book. I liked it better than "Stone Prince," but they were similar in tone. Sweet, but light reading. 3 1/2 stars.
It was a little too similar to Fantasy Lover for comfort. Though the male leads come from different backgrounds (another planet/dimension in this case), the general premise - a man bound into an object as a sex/pleasure slave - is identical.Disappointing.
