A very interesting historical novel! Extremely eloquent, in the best style of Arabic fiction, although perhaps ends up seeming somewhat bland. Nevertheless, an excellent portrayal of Ibn Khaldun and a perfect allegory for modern scholarly dilemmas of operating "within the shadow of power".
