This MG Fantasy doesn't shrink from the truth about Pirates. Earthquake damage leaves Winding Circle vulnerable to pirate attack, so everyone - including the young mages-in-training Tris, Briar, Daja, and Sandry - is working to strengthen the community's defenses. When Tris's cousin Aymery comes ...

Finally continuing my Tamora Pierce reread. Of all the Circle of Magic books, this was the one I remembered the least, but it's still great. While all the books deal with the four children, each one does focus a bit more on a character and in this one it is Tris, the merchant girl who was abandoned...

light hearted. Based on the magic of the wind and the deepening of the friendship between the 4.

This is a very different series than Pierce's Tortall, but the Circle books about the young mages Sandry, Daja, Tris and Briar have a charm of their own. This second book focuses on Tris, a weather witch who wasn't a favorite character of mine among the Circle characters at first; she's rather prick...

This is a re-read as I recovered from stress...Oh the messiness of family and yet how important family can be. I like seeing the four youngsters start to discover what they could do when they were working together instead of separately.

I think this is my least favourite in the Circle of Magic series. Not that it's not still good, but Tris has always been the one of the four I was the least interested in. The book also seemed rather rushed, but I think that may be a general thing for the entire series, and not just this book in par...

'Sandry's Book' ended with the four children having grown close metaphorically and literally after Sandry wove their magics together in order for them to survive a cave-in after an earthquake. Starting only weeks after this, 'Tris's Book' finds the Winding Circle defenseless against a pirate army. L...

Tris is fat, unloved, and far too magically gifted for anyone's comfort. But the recent earthquakes (from Sandry's Book) have weakened the duchy's defenses, and Tris's half-controlled weather magic might be their last protection against a pirate fleet.Everything about Tris is wonderfully specific an...
