Creepy! This ghost story is set during World War II, and involves an evil clown, a young boy and girl in love, an empty beach, and a mysterious old man in a lighthouse who guards a town from impending doom. Good for anyone who likes scary stories!

I hadn't intended on reading this as I normally avoid the young adult genre, but it was 20p!The father of the family decides that they need to move from the city to the coast because of the war. They move into a house that has already known tragedy.Max starts to explore the immediate vicinity and fi...

3.5 Stars A fun, spooky and easy to read story. For me it was a MG horror fiction, very entertaining. The first chapters were okay, in the middle it got very scary but in the end I found plot holes and a lot of questions remaining. The multiple POVs weren't an issue for me, it helped with the scary ...

Another read I was pleased with. I stumbled up this book at the library and I recognized the author's name. So, I took it home. I didn't even realize it was Carlos Ruiz Zafón's first book. That was a pleasant surprise because it doesn't feel like it's his first novel. The book is written so well; wr...

It wasn't really ok. It was trite and predictable and adolescent. Never mind. It doesn't stop Shadow of the Wind being one of the best books ever.

I really enjoyed The Shadow of the Wind by Zafon, and looking for a short novel to tide me over before I go away, I reached for The Prince of Mist, Zafon's debut novel that has only recently been translated. Originally, it was published as a Young Adult novel; and it is a really good one-and suffers...

Although this book is written for kids, I still enjoyed it. Carlos Ruiz Zafon has magic in his pen and it was present even in this, his first novel. I will read everything he writes. By the way, if you have not read Shadow of the Wind, you are missing one of the most imaginative and original nove...

In the introduction to the book, Zafón admits that this was initially written as a book for 12 & 13 year-olds, but hopes that adult audiences will like it as well. Hmm. Well, it wasn't bad, but I would've liked it a lot more if I was twelve. It's a fun horror story, set in a small seaside town in th...

(YA) Defiantly a horror novel, scary and thrilling, slowly creeping up behind you. : ) Clowns, it had to be clowns ?!?!?!? OK, they are only a small part but they pop up from the beginning on and they are just pure creepy.( Think-Poltergeist, the movie type clowns) The story starts with the main ch...
