This story is told pretty much in the classic fairy tale style. As such don't expect today's usual tropes: there's no waste of pages telling how pretty and special our characters are. Also, unlike most stories, here our main character is the guy, Prince George, and we get to see him growing up. That...

This book was interesting, but kind of confusing (but that may be my fault, since I read it on a 3-hours-of-sleep brain in a bouncy car.) I'll have to take some time to think about it. Full review to come...

What felt like a really classic romance fairy tale. I really felt like it was old times, where mysterious things are possible and love comes true no matter the difficulties. With classic romances though comes foreshadowing that is way too obvious.Although, I like the twist that she put on the Beauty...

I was excited for this one because I thought it sounded like a really interesting premise (and, um...I am a sucker for the cover, which is pretty). And though there were things I really enjoyed about it, for the most part I felt a little let down. It's a little hard to explain because my feelings ab...

I really liked this book. It had a slowish start, but the reader needed to know George first. I didn't see this as a retelling of "Beauty and the Beast," but a fresh take on a new fairytale. Enjoyable!

Review in 75 words or less: Unique premise with fairy-tale like plot. Rather slow beginning filled with awkward transitions. The plot held much promise, but sometimes it felt like there was too much character growth that added little to the overall plot. Plenty of memorable characters who added much...

Without being a fairy tale re-telling, Harrison manages to give that impression. (I believe she has a degree in German literature, so it makes sense.) This story of a prince, a princess and her hound is compelling and well written. [Mar. 2010]

Mistitled. Should read George and the Occasional Appearance of the Mixed-Up Merrit, as the story really focuses on Prince George and his angst about his animal magic and his feelings for the princess of the neighboring kingdom to whom he is betrothed. Boring. Bland. Wouldn't recommend it to anyone.

This was an original take on at least two fairy tales. I was sucked right in to George's sensitive character and the mysteries he was trying to unravel about himself and the people around him.
