I liked a lot of what the first book in this series had to offer, but I also had some big issues with it. But this one? It's like everything I had trouble with got addressed. Once again, we start with news of a sinister happening with one of Xandra's siblings - in this case, her brother Valentine ...

I think this was almost as good as book 1 and I really enjoyed reading it. I loved the time Xandra spent with the goblins - It was nice seeing them in a different light and the scene with the baby was just the cutest ever. I'm glad she found Val and all the parts leading up to it. I like the schemin...

After having finished God Save the Queen, the first book in the Immortal Empire series by Kate Locke, I was very impressed. I was a bit worried when I started this second book, because sequels are either hit or miss for me. So when the story started, I was even more afraid with a narrator change. ...

The plot was sooo obvious. Not as good as book one. It looked like the author was in a hurry to finish this book. So 3.5 stars

This is such a fun series and imaginative world. I'm sad that the next book is the last, although I'd rather miss a series ended too early than have one drag on when the magic is gone.

Loved this book. Even though Xandra can turn into a monster, that doesn't affect her love life. Now she just has to figure out of Queen Victoria is really sending people out to get her. Can't wait for the next book!

*Genre* Steampunk, Alternative History*Rating* 3.5-4*My Thoughts*Two months ago, Xandra Vardan learned a shocking secret about her heritage and has been trying to come to grips with it ever since. Rating: 5 out of 5.Another great addition to the Immortal Empire series, a lot has changed since the first book. Now considered a Queen of her own right, Xandra struggles with her family's approval, her subject's approval, conflicting parental interests and politics between the different species. Wit...
