I don’t generally gravitate towards supernatural novels, but I was intrigued by the description and the cover (even though I don't tend to like the girl-in-a-pretty-dress covers). I was expecting a light read, a YA vampire novel. This is so not your typical vampire novel and it is so not within th...

The Radleys--father Peter, mother Helen, teenage son Rowan and daughter Clara--are an ordinary suburban family. They live a quiet life on a quiet street in a quiet town called Bishopthorpe. The family car is a nondescript SUV--not too flashy, not too dull. Peter's a doctor, Helen a housewife. Their ...

Clara and Rowan live with sub-standard metabolisms, they have a constant rash, can't eat garlic, must wear sunscreen all the time while their parents have a very boring hum-drum life in an English town. What they don't know is that they're actually vampires. Well they don't know until Clara is att...

This is a REALLY good book! The Radleys are a vampire family, but don't worry, they're abstainers, so they won't attack you. They're just your average British family, even if they are a little strange. That is, until their 15 year old daughter, Clara, kills a boy when he tries to acquaintance rape ...

I like quirky books. I really like character-driven stories. I find myself really admiring authors who create many characters in one world, but give them each their own story…their own personality and life. Matt Haig did this for me in The Radleys. I’d randomly surfed across this book one day on Goo...

The Radleys are a pretty average middle class, British family. Except...they are vampires...and they forgot to tell their kids...and they also forgot to mention the rogue vampire that is their uncle. And then the problems start.A pretty decent book. No sparkly vampires!4 STARS

For some reason I thought this book was going to go in a completely different direction. By the middle of the book I thought I had it figured out and then the ending really threw me for a loop. It certainly isn't the vampires of Twilight. What you'll find here is a whole lot more gritty and a lot ...

There are a lot of steretypes about vampire novels these days, but this really stands out from the crowd and gives a unique twist on the genre. Mixing everyday family problems, embarassing parents, teenage angst, marital problems with gripping vampire action sounds strange, but this book works compl...
