Though it has been forever since I last read this, I remember this book fondly. The illustrations are wonderful and, I feel, make this book. They pair perfectly with the poems. This is my mother's favorite book to give to new babies. Now I have her copy, my own copy, and my daughter's copy. While I appreciate the idea, an oversized hardcover is, in my opinion, rather unwieldy for sharing with toddlers. I prefer little board books.
