I admit one of the first things about a book that draws my attention is the cover. I love a good book cover and for me that means that the cover is reflective of the story and this cover is probably one of the best examples to come my way in quite a while. 'The Rebuilding Year' is a story about tw...
3.5 starsI enjoyed the characters. It's sort of a double GFY, and I like that it wasn't some massive OTT struggle. These are mature characters figuring out who they are in life, with one another, and in the context of their other relationships. It's bit odd to me how it ended. The book is long and d...
I really tried to like it, but failed miserably. I was bored out of my mind with this one.I really like a good GFY, but this one was a sudden one. These two men were just close friends when all of a sudden they cross the line over to something more. It felt a bit unrealistic to me. There were no pre...
I liked Ryan and John (I hated it when he was called Johnny) I just didn't love them. I was talking earlier how one perceives GFY contemporary stories and what makes it believable or not. And while I accepted it in the end, there were some small peeves that decreased the pleasure of reading about th...
How do I love thee, Rebuilding Year? Let me count the ways.I love thee for thy double GFY theme. -- The fact that neither John nor Ryan had previously had an attraction to another man took the normal GFY story line to a different place. Here's why: kaje Harper has a great voice and writes really endearing characters. Really truly great characters. The plot got craz...
After reading the Life Lesson series I didn't think I would like any of Kaje Harper's books quite as much - I mean Mac and Tony. And Mac. Come on. Then I saw several people commenting on her blog saying that they wanted more of Ryan and John's story from The Rebuilding Year, so I thought I'd have a ...
