Opening Line: "Why had this happened? Why, of all the children was Kyle the one?" I first read THE RESCUE in 2003 and enjoyed it just as much with it's rediscovery. As soon as I opened the first page I was lost, reading continuously for the next 24 hours. Thinking to myself, damn that Nicho...

Before you go thinking that this is actually a book about a little kid getting rescued and having two people fall in love on the side—whoa there! What were you thinking, thinking this Nicholas Sparks novel would be any different from the other 158745693655 books he’s written? Pshhh. In all honesty...

The book started off so perfectly. There was tension, excitement and just an amazing story. But then the story progressed and it got boring. It became extreme predictable and this was the first Nicholas Sparks book I DIDN'T CRY! WHAT?! I didn't cry? I know so weird. Not one of my favourites.

Ok this might sound odd, but it wasn't really the romance that made me like this book. It was the characters. It was so easy for me to relate to the plight of a single mother struggling to get by. Denise's story, at least in part was one that I could sympathize with. While my child never had any ...

This review was first posted on Music, Books and TeaThe Rescue was one of the first Nicholas Sparks books that caught my attention a couple of years ago. At that point, I wasn't sold on the idea of reading a Nicholas Sparks book - it seemed like they all had sad endings, something that I wasn't part...

3.5 stars. The Rescue tugged at my heart strings. Kyle, the young boy in the story is non verbal due to an unknown disorder/disability. My older son is also non verbal and when he does say a word it sounds much like the way Sparks wrote Kyle's words. Still I found myself not enjoying this particular ...

I read this book over a couple of days. It was an easy read, although I did get frustrated at times with the amount of sappy cliches. It was dramatic and romantic, but a little predictable. If you like a bit of cheese in your reading then this one is for you. I will say, although it wasn't entirely ...

I liked this book but it definitely wasn't as good as some of the other Nicholas Sparks book I've read, such as The Notebook, Dear John and The Last Song. I found the story to be a bit cheesy and the ending was too neat and tidy. Good story but not that memorable.
