Great concept, liked the characters. Loved the worldbuilding (at which Sanderson always excels) and the system of magic. Eager for a sequel.

Now, how can I put this nicely.... it's an easy entertaining read. I certainly enjoy most things about the book... all except for the chalkling things. The writing is brilliant. And honestly, I loved the story as a whole, just when it came to the chalklings being these big scary things that have ter...

Brandon Sanderson certainly knows how to write books that spur my imagination (and apparently a lot of other people as well). Here he has generated an entertaining and fun read that introduces another new magic system from the creative mind of the author. Lots of action throughout the story highligh...

He gets caught up in trying to discover what is going on as his classmates start disappearing, what he ...

Joel is sixteen. His dream is to be a rithmatist. Rithmatists can alter the environment by chalking on the floor. The chalkings are two dimensional. But they can move and kill anyone they touch. Because of this ability The Rithmatists are special soldiers to protect The United Isles of America from ...

Went through this book so fast. Would have been faster, but at first I tried to limit myself to just reading it before work, as a nice easy wakeup. But after a while that just wasn't cutting it and away the rest went.In this story, Joel is a student who wants nothing more than to be a Rithmatist, a ...

Let me be transparent in advising readers to think twice about experiencing this book as an audiobook. I'm not sure it works that well. It could be me. I am a very visual person when it comes to higher level concepts, especially mechanistic disciplines, such as geometry, architecture, and engineerin...
