3.5 Some of this book was extremely tedious, i.e., I love Oxford, I love Lady Jane. But the last several chapters were very good.
The magical "tie it up neatly" at the end just did not work for me. Too much of it made absolutely no sense. I'll probably keep working through these because I like the characters.
Definitely a story to keep you guessing. Very much like Kate Ross' Julian Kestrel mysteries. I am glad to have found these. can't wait to begin the next one. I am not sure what to think about the love story, I am afraid it might be a bad thing for the plot, but if you must have that kind of thin...

I enjoyed this novel better than Charles Finch's previous novel. There was more intrigue and suspense involved. I hope he continues writing these mysteries. They are truly enjoyable!
