I dithered about the rating of this one. In some ways I did enjoy this even more than the first book in the series, Mistress of the Art of Death. I think I made a mistake thinking I could read this without reading the first book. No can do. It was interesting, but I didn't connect and I'm confused.Gonna try it again later...maybe? Idk when I'll have time to read the first book, or if I'll even remember. Shelving this as DNF.
