I'm really of two minds about this book - the info about Shakespeare and all of the possible candidates for the "Who was Shakespeare?" sweepstakes was absolutely fascinating, and I really appreciated the author's note at the end, which outlines which parts are fact, which are somewhat fictionalized ...
This book deserved exactly two stars. The story itself, is very intriguing, especially if you like "Da Vinci Code-like" mysteries or Shakespearean history. It was the flat static characters that ruined the story for me. Without interesting characters, I simply cannot get involved in a book.

Too much of Stratfordian to read this without gagging. It's neat, but gosh darn predictable and in some sense like too many other things. Not much you have to suspend too much disbelief. Unrated because Carrell can actually write in terms of sentence and vibe.
