My name is Chloe Saunders and my life will never be the same again. All I wanted was to make friends, meet boys, and keep on being ordinary. I don't even know what that means anymore. It all started on the day that I saw my first ghost—and the ghost saw me. Now there are ghosts everywhere and they won't leave me alone. To top it all off, I somehow got myself locked up in Lyle House, a "special home" for troubled teens. Yet the home isn't what it seems. Don't tell anyone, but I think there might be more to my housemates than meets the eye. The question is, whose side are they on? It's up to me to figure out the dangerous secrets behind Lyle House . . . before its skeletons come back to haunt me.

Loved this book. Loved the characters. Loved the suspense. Loved the mystery. Loved the twist at the end, even if I hate it at the same time. Chloe is a strong female protagonist. She isn't afraid to be honest and stand up for herself. I love how brave she is with Derek, even after he hurt her. She ...

The combination of supernaturals and mental illness was interesting but the realization was imo a bit over the top. Who would buy an institution like Lyle House with dead bodies in the cellar withou...

4.0 The Summoning (Darkest Powers, Book 1)
I read this in high school and loved it! The plot is so unique. It's creepy and mysterious and suspenseful. The characters are all believable teenagers. Also, Chloe is a great protagonist. She's afraid of her new-found power yet she tries to learn how to control it.

Actual rating: 3.5.I really liked 60% of this book, the first 60%. It's hard to do because I'm such a sucker for endings and that's where I place all my hopes and dreams and fuzzy feelings. The end really didn't do anything for me. It was clear that this was part of a series, not just because I know...
