I read it since it was recommended by Pat Conroy in My Reading Life. I found it to be very sad and much like the end of a bender where the momentary joy was quickly swallowed by the gaping hole of the soul. I can see the gravity it has for Conroy.

Rory: I will give the painful Ernest Hemingway another shot. Yes I promise. -Gilmore Girls, A-Tisket, A-TasketI tried Hemingway again (my first Hemingway was The Old Man and the Sea in eighth grade... the meeting wasn't pretty). Not my cup of tea.
