I enjoy these books. They're mindless reads that can actually inform you about history and mythology you wouldn't normally learn about. But Magnus seems to be a blonde Percy Jackson. And nobody can be Percy but Percy. Them's just the facts.

This is the first book in the Magnus Chase and The Gods of Asgard series which is Rick Riordan's series about Norse mythology. Rick Riordan’s books are always such pleasant reads: they have great characters, a lot of humor and some great but crazy storylines about Gods and stuff. This series is ...

The Scandinavian in me wanted to love this book. The avid reading in me just couldn't love this book, which is a little sad because I adore Percy Jackson and his friends. Character names and places are different but the story really isn't. Magnus is just a Percy Jackson/Jason Grace hybrid. Blitzen i...

Was a fun book to listen to with my son. The narrator wasn't great but we still enjoyed the story and will probably continue with the series. I didn't enjoy these characters nearly as much as I've enjoyed the Percy Jackson or Kane Chronicles folks but maybe they'll grow on us.

I have read a lot of Rick Riordan this year. I loved the Percy Jackson series, really liked the Heroes of Olympus series, thought the Kane Chronicles where alright, and was nervous about this series. From the first book though I think that was unnecessary. I really enjoyed these characters and being...

Maybe you're thinking, Oh, Magnus, you didn't really die. Otherwise you couldn't be narrating this story. You just came close. Then you were miraculously rescued, blah, blah, blah. Nope. I actually died. One hundred percent: guts impaled, vital organs burned, head smacked into a frozen river from ...

Everything Rick Riordan writes that I have read as of yet has left me desperately, ridiculously depressed that there is not more. This book is no exception. Like all of his books, it is easy to suck it straight down in one fell swoop, then raise your head and realize in complete surprise that it w...

1. Summarized ThoughtsAs you can tell from the rating given and the status updates, I enjoyed this book very much. The story is compelling, exhilarating, and hilarious like all the novels Rick Riordan has written, but manages to display clear disparity in comparison to his previous series. Unsurpris...
