In autumn, a strong wind blows flower seeds high in the air and carries them far across the land. One by one, many of the seeds are lost -- burned by the sun, fallen into the ocean, eaten by a bird. But some survive the long winter and, come spring, sprout into plants, facing new dangers -- trampled by playing children, picked as a gift for a friend. Soon only the tiniest seed remains, growing into a giant flower and, when autumn returns, sending its own seeds into the wind to start the process over again. Eric Carle's eloquent text and brilliant collages turn the simple life cycle of a plant into an exciting story, a nature lesson, and an inspiring message of the importance of perseverance.

A great book to incorporate into a second grade science lesson on plants or a lesson on the seasons. The beautiful colors are engaging and the verbiage is simple making it easy to read. Further, I think this could be a good book for any age to discuss perseverance and/or patience.

My granddaughter was rooting for the tiny seed. Good book for helping illustrate the life cycle of a plant.

"The Tiny Seed" is a fun and informative story that follows a tiny seed as it grows into a flower. I would use this in kindergarten through second grade to introduce and talk about the life cycle of plants and the obstacles they face as they grow.

In Autumn, a strong wind blows some flower seeds. The wind blows them for a long time. Some seeds do not make it due to the sun, icy mountain, the ocean, and the desert. The other seeds continue sailing while a tiny seed is unable to go as fast as the others seeds and it stays lower to the ground. W...
