Teaching is the oldest and noblest profession. Ever since the famed Greek philosophers such as Plato, Aristotle, Democritus and Socrates mesmerized their audience with their unique mastery of their subject matter, the world has always been indebted to what teachers do every day in their classrooms. In fact, every technological breakthrough, every invention, every innovation and every other discovery that has eased the burden of life here on earth, as always had the imprint of a teacher. It is teachers who create great political leaders, great scientists, great medical doctors, great engineers, great preachers and great inventors.
Turning back the clock of history, we ought to appreciate the undeniable fact that the greatest movement of all times- Christianity- was started by the greatest teacher of all: Jesus Christ. His teachings, which were often peppered with great story telling, should provide contemporary teachers with vital lessons on how to deliver their content in a more interesting and easily relatable way. This is because, we are living at an age where the multitudes of devices at our disposal, iPads, iTunes and smart phones etc, have posed serious competition to the learners attention.
So delivering content in an old fashioned way- relying too much on lecture method- will doom the teacher’s ability to make an impact in his profession. It is in this light that I decided to research and come up with a book that would seriously address the need to focus on excellence within the teaching profession.
This book is therefore a must read for every teacher alive! Why? It is because what I have done inside these pages is quite unprecedented. The information therein has been packaged in such a way that the reader ( and a teacher) for that matter, will find something to relate with, something to improve about himself, something to build on, something to pick up, something to discard and most importantly, something to laugh at. The book is indeed a mirror through which teachers will be able to look at themselves, use it to improve their appearance, beautify their faces, comb their hair and, crucially, admire themselves!
The topics been comprehensively addressed inside this book include:
How teachers can develop compassion for their students
Developing mastery of the subject content
Developing the skills of delivering the topic in a different way
Dedication to excellence
Effective classroom management skills
How to be passionate to the teaching profession
Effective discipline skills
How to appreciate students
