This is a nice, light, somewhat humorous book. Nothing all that special but nothing to complain about either. A good book to pick when you need something not too heavy or serious.

Lovely little novel, full of daft, but realistic characters. Funny, but at the same time thought provoking and touching.

I wasn't bowled over by this book, but I didn't dislike it either. It was interesting and entertaining, but predictable and a bit two dimensional. While you get to know about the characters, they never really come to life. My biggest problem with the story is I'm not sure what the point was. Maybe i...

I am feeling generous by not giving this book a 1 star rating. It really is just a sappy love story that has hardly any redeeming qualities.First, the language is just overbearing. An interesting plot, but the characters felt cliche and two-dimensional. Call me prejudiced, but I would have preferred seeing more of the animal characters and less of the human ones.

The Tower, the Zoo, and the Tortoise was so infused with melancholy, that in my mind's eye I pictured every day in this book to be a grey, overcast, drizzly, cold day. I really did not think that this book was going to be anything that I was going to like, because I usually do not care for melancho...

I really enjoyed reading this book. It was a light read, though the subject matter wasn't always light. I just loved the snippets of history about the Tower of London and British history and it is the first book in a long time to make me laugh out loud.

Retired military officer Balthazar Jones is a Beefeater, working and living with his wife, the unfortunately named Hebe, in the Tower of London. The couple have been trying to cope with the loss of their young son three years ago, but seem unable to move past their grief. Balthazar collects raindrop...
