Some Favorite Quotes:Cats are famous for purring. And this is what the calico cat did as she curled up next to Ranger's massive chest, safe and soft. Until he heard it, Ranger had not realized how much he needed this sweet, friendly sound. How much he needed someone to settle in next to him. He ...

This book had me crying on page one. It's a dark story about an abused dog, an abandoned cat, and her kittens who come together to try to forge a life under the porch of a creepy, damaged man who enjoys killing things. I will take an oath in a court of law, that there were actually times while reading this book that I forgot to breath. There are some moments in this book that are so frightening...

There's not much to say about this book that hasn't been said better than I'd say it. It's beautifully written, flows gorgeously, almost like it's a free verse poem. It's tragic and beautiful, dark and cold, and full of heat and bright, fierce love.
