by Grace Burrowes
Grace Burrowes is a very talented writer, and she creates characters you come to really care about. This is a good thing, as the first three books in the Windham series are basically the same plot, with different people and settings. The Heir: duke’s heir, burdened by the demands of running the duke...
This was a sweet read. Val is a sensitive person and Ellen is perfect for him. I was looking forward to this book and it didn't disappoint. This is a fun, sweet romance series. Recommended.
Grace Burrowes is a gifted writer. I found myself frequently re-reading paragraphs or bits of dialogue out of appreciation for her eloquence of expression. She layers her stories with emotion and seems to uniquely embrace the subtleties of not just the developing romance between the h/h but the vario...
It took a second time starting this before I could get into, but once I did I found that I loved it. Val and Ellen are so wnderful, both have suffered great losses and have had difficulty coming to terms with those losses. The story is interwoven with Val's brother from the previous two books and se...
This is Grace Burrowes at her best. This might sound strange, but I am glad I read Lady Sophia's book first. Don't get me wrong, Lady Sophia's Christmas Wish is an decent book, but this one is so much better. ( Ironically, Lady Sophia's Christmas Wish got nominated to a RITA). So, what did I love ...

My jury is still out on this one. Quite a few interesting elements in the story, but I didn't get carried away with it to the point where I could not put it down. The story is told mostly from the hero's POV or a neutral POV, very little from the heroine's POV. Mostly she seems to just wring her han...
Ever since I read about Val in book 1 I wanted to read his book, he just felt so different than other heroes. He just sat by his piano all day long and played. He sounded so sweet. In this one he wins an estate and goes to fix it up, and to rest since his hand is red and swollen (poor Val, all he wan...
3 stars or 3.5 This book starts strong. We’re given a delicious beta hero, a lovely widow, and a natural-feeling romance. Then, the plot deteriorates with critical revelations and nonsensical behavior. The some- kind-of-wonderful feeling turns into what-the-heck is happening. Sighs turn into g...
