The first half of the book was as depressing as it could get. The second half was finished in quite a rush imo. All in all I rate it 2.75 stars 1.75 for Max and Tornadoes ;)and 1 for the message the book is trying to pass on.
I can see similarities between this and the movie Twister, which isn't a bad thing. The only problem I really had with it was it was much too short. A bit of the story was rushed where Jane came to terms with her mother's addiction. And I would have liked to see a bit more of the storm chasing seaso...
I received this through good reads giveaways. The first 150 pages were a little repetative, but the book picked up and went really fast after that. I could see people I knew in some of the characters.
I found this book to be really enjoyable. It's one of the few contemporary novels I've ever read (contemp was never a genre I really go into) and this book was a great transition for me to get into contemporary (which I have been trying to do because I know I've been missing many great books by excl...
I have to admit it: I only picked up The Waiting Sky because of its cover. While I was definitely intrigued by the unique premises of this novel, its cover really drew me in with its desperation and overall feel of melancholy. In fact, I think it’s such a perfect cover because this novel itself ha...

Twister was one of my absolute favourite movies. I used to watch it over and over, fascinated by the tornadoes. Even now, years later, I find myself mesmerized by all natural disasters. They're terrifying and set on destruction, making us seem incredibly small and powerless. When I learned that The ...

I was once again surprised when I finished reading it because it is a fantastic novel. It is full of heart, great c...
Beyond seeing the movie Twister back in the 1990s, I knew next to nothing about storm chasers. Lara Zielin really takes you into the eye of the storm, offering an inside look at the teams who follow tornados to do scientific research and gain fame. Jane is part of the Tornado Brothers, but a rival t...
