Dang, this was tough to read. My 6th grader brought it home from school at the recommendation of the school librarian..."It's one of my favorites" she said. Well crap. That's the last time I rely on the recommendation of that school librarian. I actually enjoyed the story, so I may be over reactin...

Book 1 qualifies as Ohio for my USA by the book challenge. Book 2 is more than 50% set in Maine, so I'm counting it as fulfilling that state. This series was a re-read for me. It is more urban fantasy, less high fantasy, with a Harry Potter'esque (wizards among us) conceit. There is a completed st...

I had this huge phase back then in which my favorite genre was Fantasy, but now I don't even know, since I'm so sick of Dystopia and ...

A good coming to age fantasy with a little bit of a twist. There is wizards and warriors and other magical people, yet its present day. Makes for a fun, interesting read. I will be looking into the other 2 books.

I don't have the heart to give this 2 stars, I like this author too much but... I've been wanting to read this series for a looong time. However, I found myself having a really hard time getting into the story. I finally did a quarter in but still... I honestly don't know what was missing and maybe ...
