FBI Special Agent Duncan McGuire spends his days--and his nights--tracking real-life monsters. Most humans aren't aware of the vampires and werewolves that walk among them. They don't realize the danger that they face, but Duncan knows about the horror that waits in the darkness. He hunts the monsters, and he protects the innocent. Duncan just never expects to become a monster. But after a brutal werewolf attack, Duncan begins to change...and soon he will be one of the very beasts that he has hunted. Dr. Holly Young is supposed to help Duncan during his transition. It's her job to keep him sane so that Duncan can continue working with the FBI's Para Unit. But as Duncan's beast grows stronger, the passion that she and Duncan have held carefully in check pushes to the surface. The desire that is raging between them could be a very dangerous thing...because Holly isn't exactly human, not any longer. As the monsters circle in, determined to take out all of the agents working at the Para Unit, Holly and Duncan will have to use their own supernatural strengths in order to survive. But as they give up more of their humanity and embrace the beasts within them both, they realize that the passion between them isn't safe, it isn't controllable, and their dark need may just be an obsession that could destroy them both. 3.0 The Wolf Within
This is the first book in a series and yet, I have no desire to read the next book. It was okay. The story was pretty good. The characters were rather one dimensional, though. It was like the author was holding back to let them develop in later books. Maybe. But it really made for a flat reading exp...

3.5 The Wolf Within by Cynthia Eden (Purgatory, book 1)
It's about vampires and werewolves alright. You probably are tired of reading about them in different series these past few years, but why not read another one? While reading this, i found myself already nearing its end.. it's so face-paced. The writing is clean and exciting: Have steamy couple, s...

4.0 The Wolf Within
A bit of different take on werewolf lore, an FBI agent who is pure alpha male, a lovely seemingly fragile doctor and the mysterious genius who heads the paranormal unit all combine as charismatic characters in an action packed tale that was a great intro to a series. Despite it's shortness this stor...

3.5 I quite enjoyed this novella about vampires and werewolves.
Though I liked the action parts more than the "love" story. It had a lot of cliches, it felt short and the plot was so not original, but still it was a fun read and kept me entertained.

3.5 The Wolf Within by Cynthia Eden
Not bad. I was pleasantly surprised. I thought this could have been more sex than plot, but it wasn't. I always get anoyed with book that have overly dominant men. This is not exception, 'cause see they *know* what is best. I liked Holly and how she eventually embraced her strength.
