Another fun entry for Thursday Next. This one takes place totally in the "real" world, much like the last one took place in the book world. I'm finding that I prefer the books that travel back and forth between the two. I like getting both the political and the literary satire.
It's interesting to read a book in the Thursday Next series that doesn't involve the Bookworld in one way or another. It's a part of what makes the series so creative and enjoyable, and I love to see how Fforde takes a part of fiction and applies it to real-world standards. The Woman Who Died a Lo...
Sometimes I enjoy the idea of a Thursday Next book more than the reading thereof. I suspect it's because there is SO MUCH to set up each time. Once that's done, things move along zippily, in this case with both humor and pathos. Yeah, I didn't expect it to be bittersweet, either. I really like Thurs...
Another good and fun read from series that target on book nerds. What's not to like about this? The writer has been moving away from the familiar books, and jumping to the "book world". A few plots devices include doomsday, asteroid striking Earth, god smiting people, and destiny notification that co...

I missed the bookworld that wasn't featured in this book and with my limited memory capacity I've forgotten most of the thing happened in previous books. I was not doing this book justice since I didn't really follow the whole ti...

Not as head of the newly reinstated SO-27, as she h...
If you aren't reading this series, you should be.It's funny, it's smart, it is increasingly complex and devious, and mostly it's just a universe that I can't imagine NOT wanting to live in. Thursday is getting older and I was worried about that - but after we got her back from the near-assassinatio...
