I struggled to finish it. I did not like the stories; they lacked charm. The most awful of all was probably The Swan.

I love his stories. One of the few authors where I can really enjoy a short story and not feel short changed. He has a way to his imagination that makes me want to jump into his brain for a day.

This collection of short stories has stayed with me through the years. It's a great bridging book between Dahl's children's books to his (very bizarre and brilliant) adult stories.
