One of my least favorite of the Wells books I've read so far.The plot moves very slow, and I have a hard time imagining people dropping "atomic bombs" from biplanes, knowing how powerful they truly are... not that the author could really be faulted for imagining bombs weaker than they really turned ...

Wells predicted not only the first atomic bomb but also the search for weapons of mass destruction. The difference is that his was successful.

I read this when I was about 11 and I can't remember a thing about it, except that Wells predicts atomic weapons and they finally turn out to be a good thing.
