Theresa Crumpler Anzaldua was born in Cleveland, raised in Detroit, and graduated from the University of Michigan Ann Arbor with a B.A. (English and Philosophy) and M.A. (Philosophy). She graduated from Harvard Law School and worked as a corporate attorney and later as an enforcement attorney at the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission in Washington, D.C.She has been a freelance writer and regular contributor to Seasons Magazines for the past several years. This book grew from an article she wrote for Seasons Magazines about a World War II veteran with an amazing story. Kris Perry, the Director of the Office of Veterans Affairs and Military Programs at the University of Connecticut, fact checked the article and encouraged her to interview more veterans. Kris is a Lieutenant Colonel, Retired, U.S. Air Force, a graduate of the U.S. Naval Academy and a veteran of multiple combat deployments, including Operation Enduring Freedom and Operation Iraqi Freedom.Theresa's mother, Mary, was living in England during the war when her home was destroyed by German bombs. Mary went on to serve in the War as a WAC in the U.S. Army, her brother John served in the British Royal Marines Commandos and fought on the beaches of Normandy on D-Day, and their brother Tommy served in the U.S. Army and was killed in a training accident in Texas. Theresa always wished she had learned more about her mother's and uncles' service before they died and feels honored to have had the opportunity to interview the veterans featured in We Had A Job To Do. These short, easily digested vignettes are not told by the generals, but from the viewpoints of "everyday" soldiers....
