Thomas B. Sheridan is Ford Professor of Engineering and Applied Psychology in the Departments of Mechanical Engineering and Aeronautics/Astronautics at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He has served as president of both the Human Factors and Ergonomics Society and the IEEE Systems Man and Cybernetics Society and on many panels of the National Research Council. He has an ScD from MIT, an honorary doctorate from Delft University, Netherlands and is a member of the National Academy of Engineering. He has authored or edited five books relating to human performance and human-automation interaction. His latest book is titled "What is God: Can Religion be Modeled?
