Thomas Glave was born in the Bronx and grew up there and in Kingston, Jamaica. A two-time New York Foundation for the Arts Fellow, he is a graduate of Bowdoin College and Brown University. His work has earned many honors, including the Lambda Literary Award in 2005 and 2008, an O. Henry Prize (he is the second gay black writer, after James Baldwin, to win this award), a Fine Arts Center in Provincetown Fellowship, and a Fulbright fellowship to Jamaica. While there, he worked on issues of social justice, and helped found the Jamaica Forum of Lesbians, All-Sexuals, and Gays. Glave is the author of Whose Song? and Other Stories, Words to Our Now: Imagination and Dissent (Lambda Literary Award, 2005), The Torturer's Wife (Dayton Literary Peace Prize Finalist, 2008), and Among the Bloodpeople: Politics and Flesh (2013). He is editor of the anthology Our Caribbean: A Gathering of Lesbian and Gay Writing from the Antilles (Lambda Literary Award, 2008).  Glave has been Martin Luther King Jr. Visiting Professor at MIT, and is presently a Visiting Fellow at Clare Hall, Cambridge University.
