Thomas J. Vicino is Associate Professor of Political Science and on the faculty in the School of Public Policy and Urban Affairs at Northeastern University in Boston, Massachusetts. He is a recognized expert on the political economy of metropolitan America. His book "Transforming Race and Class in Suburbia: Decline in Metropolitan Baltimore" (Palgrave Macmillan) was nominated for best book in urban affairs by the Urban Affairs Association in 2008. His co-authored book "Cities and Suburbs: New Metropolitan Realities in the US" (Routledge) is a best-selling book in the urban studies field. His recent work also appears in peer-reviewed journals such as Urban Affairs Review, Urban Studies, Urban Geography, and The International Journal of Urban and Regional Research. He holds a PhD and MPP in public policy from University of Maryland and a BSc from University of Miami (FL). He is a native of Washington, DC.
