This is another one of those books that I bought on a whim since it popped up in my recommendations. I honestly do not remember if it was on one of my Goodreads friends lists or if I saw it in my Kindle recommendations but in any case, this book was a very pleasant surprise. The previous book that I...

It was an Israeli friend who told me that if I wanted to understand today's Middle East, I should read this book. The author is well-qualified as a guide to the region’s complexities. Friedman, who is Jewish and studied Hebrew as a child, as a teen spent a vacation in an Israeli Kibbutz. He started ...

I found Friendman's writing style too sensationalist to take as seriously as The World is Flat. I still learned a fair amount, and can climb on board with Friedman's environmental idealism, but did not appreciate the right-wing slandering and political bias.

I had to read this book for a MBA class and wanted to beat my head against the wall the whole time I was reading it. Dryly written..it couldn't keep my interest for anything and I found myself having to go back and reread sections because I zoned out while reading them the first time.

Defined main goals for America's development concerning ecology/energy challenges. His address is alarming and slightly exagge...

This should be mandatory reading for President-Elect Obama! With so much of our money going to petro-dictators who are not our friends, we need the Federal government to step up to the plate, realize that global warming is ruining the Earth and do something about it NOW! The Big Oil lobby has been r...

Hot, Flat and Crowded can be translated as climate change, globalization, and population growth. This book is a followup to the author's best-selling The World Is Flat, a book about globalization of business. This book examines how globalization can continue in a way that doesn't doom the world du...
