I'm glad I became enchanted with this series before the furor around unmasking Elena Ferrante broke. These books are as delicate as they are brutal, as biting as they are comforting.

I love the relationship between Elena and Lina, Elena's approach to feminism, the relationship with her sister-in-law. I hope the next book has fewer pages dedicated to the Neapolitan Prince Charming, Nino.

My goodness, could these get any better. There is something so raw and exposing about these characters, you almost feel embarrassed for them. In my review of the first book, I mentioned how the books were woman-centric without being feminist themed. Strike that. Lenu and Lila are all grown up...
