LeafMarks has now added Badges and Reading Challenges. In addition to the challenges you set for yourself like on here and other sites they also have community challenges where you have to read X number of books in certain categories such as new authors, classics, fantasy, graphic novels, and more.
You can earn badges for completing challenges as well as other things on the site. In addition to challenge badges I also have a couple of badges for being a Librarian and writing reviews.
Are they missing because of a screw up from an import or was there some other glitch in the site? I personally insist on adding all of my books manually because of all the cases I've heard where people's exports/imports get messed up. It's always extremely tedious when I join a new book site and I start adding books, but I guess it's easier for me to add them one at a time to make sure all the right info is there than to go back and fill in missing books and correct info that's wrong or missing. Though maybe I'd change my mind if I had as many books as you. I couldn't let that go though, I'd personally fill in all the missing books. It would just nag at me until I did.
Well anyway, yeah, shiny badges!
Ok I see. I guess I'm OCD/anal about this sort of thing and I want things to be consistent across all sites I use. I also find that if I keep things consistent it then it helps me to detect if I've forgotten anything. I also recently made a blogspot blog where I transferred all my reviews and other posts from here just in case this site goes away. I had already done that with Tumblr, but my reviews on there just link back to here.
I also really wanted to made a wordpress backup as well, but I'm rather ticked that I can't play around with the code to customize things without paying. Even if I paid for the customization upgrade, which doesn't cost too much money, I'd still only be able to edit the CSS, but not the html. For that I'd need to pay for outside hosting and stuff. I did manage to find a theme that I Iiked and went well with the background I wanted to choose, but it just bugs me that I can't make it match the style of my blogs here and on Tumblr and blogspot, and I hate that the sidebar is on the opposite side from how I want it. Maybe at some point I'll get over it and transfer my reviews over there, but I don't have the patience right now.
Thanks for the suggestion. I'm sure I would love it if I paid for my own WP site. I've heard you can do tons of neat stuff with plugins if you have your own site. I'm just not in a position to spend money on a website right now if it's not something that I'm going to be able to make money off of(at least enough to break even). For the time being if I decide to use wordpress it will be after/if I decide I can live with the theme I chose as is. Who knows, maybe I'll find another blog site out there to use as a second backup that will let me customize things without paying. I'd consider LiveJournal except that they only let you have one blog per account there and I really don't want to have to manage two separate accounts(my current one is dedicated to fanfiction stuff). Weebly looks like it might be a good alternative to WP but I'm having a hard time finding definitive info as to whether css/html customization is free or if it only comes with a paid account. I might have to sign up and play around with it for awhile.
Um well it might help if a librarian combines the editions. I have librarian status so I can try to do it for you, but I can't promise that anything will happen. Also sometimes these things are on a bit of a delay so if it does work it could take a little while before it shows the books as counting.
Though I just went to try to combine editions for the first book in that series and I couldn't find any editions for that book that weren't combined. How long has it been since you entered the challenge? I've found that sometimes it takes as long as 10 to 15 minutes for everything to get updated. If it still isn't counting all the books for you after half an hour then I'd say contact the developers and let them know which books aren't showing up for you that should. This is a new site feature so I think they are still working the kinks out.
The problem might simply be that your editions have a slightly different title. In the challenge the first book is listed as Pawn of Prophecy, the edition you have is titled Pawn of Prophecy (The Belgariad, #1). They might need to tweak the code to make sure it includes all combined editions even if their titles aren't exactly the same.
I suspect this is the case because the form for requesting that new books be added only asks for the title and author.
