Your story is similar to mine. Richard Dawkins opening minds around the world :-)
I know that's not exactly true: we were already all curious and doubtful BEFORE reading it BUT who knows if we'd gone forward without a good book to "answer" more rationally our doubts?
If other atheist out there also have similar stories then maybe it proves that no matter how "hard" society and religions around the world "try" to change people's minds, at least with a few, they can´t. Some people are curious and question everything and others don´t. Some people can "be converted" others not. Some people are more prone to get addicted to almost everything, others not. ~Let's all pray for Natural Selection :-)
Ps: when I was a kid I wanted to be an archaeologist(Indiana Jones) or a pilot(Top Gun). Turned out IT. Now I'm considering returning to university for Mathematics or Sociology or Social Assistant degree. Neuroscientist comes to my mind too BUT i'm too old and too (un)smart for it.
