I liked, but did not love The Whiskey Rebels by David Liss. I haven't read anything by him since. He seems to be interested in things that aren't that fascinating to me--high finance, for example.

I've discovered that every historical mystery series that I start out loving develops its own formula and becomes repetitive. It's easy to say that authors should stop writing a series when they run out of inspiration, but they are trying to make a living at this. So it's most likely that they'll stop writing the series when it stops selling.
