Out of all your favorite fantasy fiction books out there, who is your absolute favorite strong female character, and why?

Explain who she is, and what her story is.
I have two favorite.
Lyra from Philip's Golden Compass. She's a tough girl and wont take no for an answer. She knows what's right and she's up for anything. It reminds me of how much more free and brave we are as children.

The second is Laya Heartright from The Velvet Book. She's a tough, deep character with a tormented past. I just cant know enough about her and if there was a fiction character that I think I could fall in love with it would be her, but knowing her she'd probably scoff at me. lol

That's a great book! And I agree those are wonderful strong female characters.
There's a brand new writer that's popping up everywhere, that you may want to check out, if those two you mentioned are your favorite then I would love to hear what your opinion is on this book:

lol she probably would scoff at you, if not more. I too love Lyra she too reminds me of what it was like being young and brave. Now as adults we tend to weigh the risks and don't take adventure on as much as we would like too.
