The Game of Kings - Dorothy Dunnett
Reading start: 2015-09-01
Reading finish: 2015-09-30
I have started this - about 75 pages in - and have to admit that I am disappointed so far. After looking at the Goodreads ratings and having this recommended to me many times, I am feeling bogged down in confusing dialogue.
I do like the fact that it is set in Scotland and gives a little bit different perspective of familiar events and historical figures.
I'll be interested to hear what others think of this one.
The Game of Kings is not my favorite in this series, but do hang in there. Everything gets better once Philippa makes her appearance, even though here she is only ten. In fact, that goes for the entire series, although Lymond does start acting like a human being late in book 4 (Pawn in Frankincense).
And don't misunderstand me: I love books 4–6.
Thanks! That's encouraging. :-)
Anyone else reading this one? I'm almost done but it is taking me a while. Between this and Mantel . . . whew!
