Hoping I can get this on audio!
No go on the audio, but it looks like I own it on Kindle. Who else is reading this one?
I was going to pick up my copy again for a reread.
We used to have this - but I have no idea where. I'll ask my mother if she knows where we put it.
I'm at 10% and am a bit confused about why I'm receiving the information I'm receiving. lol. There's a murder to solve, but all of a sudden we've got a bunch of background on some Clare lady. Is this relevant?
The fact that she existed is relevant because her name gets thrown around a lot later on, usually in accusations between monks. There are two basic plot threads: the murder mystery and the meeting William was sent to attend at the monastery (the whole reason why William and Adso are there).
Thanks! I kept trying to decide if I would regret skimming a bit. ;-)
Some of this I really like, and other times I'm thinking, oh, a whole page on that then. Alrighty.
You can generally get away with skimming in the latter situation. So, remember that Clare exists, but you shouldn't be too confused if you don't remember much else about her. The different heretical perspectives are somewhat relevant because they set up the conflicts between the characters but the details boil down to "he's heretical but I'm not. How dare you compare us? "
Alright. I'm honestly struggling with this. I see glimpses of things that I like, but they are at risk of being buried under the rest. I am at about 30% and looking at my towering TBR. Do I continue or pick up something else? I've never been a big DNFer, but it seems to get easier the older I get. ;-)
I'm not a big DNF'er either, but I did it this morning. Life's too short to read a book you aren't either enjoying or finding useful.
Yeah. I liked the book, and I still like the book, but there's no sense in torturing yourself. You could try just skipping everything that isn't directly related to the library, but a DNF may be best for you. I think I've had 3 so far this year myself.
Need help?
