Josh Lanyon's Adrien English series are a great mystery read, plus I like Jordan Castillo Price's PsyCop books, those are paranormal mystery though, fyi.

They're so good! I was really sad when I reached the end of the series!

Neil Placky's Mahu Investigation series, Mahu, Mahu Surfer, Mahu Blood, Mahu Fire, Zero Break and Natural Predators. The first couple don't have much romance in them, but the main character comes to grips with being gay and forcibly outed in the first book, and in the second gets to deal with the family repercussions. In the third book on things start to get romantic. The books are more focused on mystery, but the related short stories tend more toward the erotic end of things as Kimo explores his sexuality. The mysteries are really good solid mysteries.

... looking through his Amazon author's page is a bit of a trip. He had the Mahu series, a bunch of gay erotica, another m/m body-guarding series and then to cap it all off, one of those cozy mystery series starring an animal, in this case a golden retriever. It's like finding out Josh Lanyon also wrote as Lillian Braun, haha
