Discussion: Admin of my own topics?
posts: 2 views: 320 last post: 11 years ago
back to group
In this group that I belong to I noticed that I now seem to have the ability to delete any posts in a topic that I started despite the fact that I'm not an admin of the group. I took advantage of this ability and deleted a "double post", but I'm pretty sure I shouldn't have the ability to do admin type things if I'm not the group admin.

I checked and the option definitely doesn't seem to be there for topics that other people started, just the one I started. Unless the group admin decides to make me an admin/mod too(not even sure if this is currently possible), I don't think I should have the power to delete anyone's posts except for my own even if I was the one that started the topic.
I guess I just see too much potential for abuse there, such as someone could start a controversial topic and then delete any responses that they didn't like. Anyway I know that if I was a group admin I wouldn't want anyone but me and any other admins/mods that I had appointed to have that ability. Maybe they can make it part of group options to let the group admin decided if they want to let their members have this ability or not. I don't actually plan on starting my own group on here as I don't have the time or energy for it and I already help run a group on Shelfari, but if I did want to start a group on here, it would really put me off knowing that I didn't have control over this sort of thing.
Need help?
