I've been trying to finish reading this series. A while ago I read the first four books. I've just re-read them and am continuing on to the fifth but I seem to be missing something.

Maybe I skipped something in the fourth book (Destined for an Early Grave) since it's my least favorite and I skimmed some parts but I just don't remember Cat (hide spoiler) freezing any vampires.(show spoiler)

I have this feeling like I missed something so please help me if you remember what happened.

Here is the quote of what confused me: (hide spoiler) "Kitten, you've been a vampire for less than a year. During that time, you've blown the head off a Master vampire through pyrokinesis and frozen dozens of vampires into a stupor through telekinesis. Your abilities, plus your occasional heart-beat, are bound to frighten some people."(show spoiler) (quoted from the end of chapter three of This Side of the Grave)

Hi, Marianna! I listened to book 4 back in 2009 and I cannot remember much. I'll try to locate my PB copy to see if I find anything about in there to share with ya. But, in the meantime, maybe another member can be of more help.

ETA: I scanned the Amazon preview (b/c I can't locate my PB) and there's a scene with Mencheres, Cat and Gregor: (hide spoiler) Gregor is frozen by Mencheres. We know that Cat gains power from the vampires she drinks from. So, if Mencheres has this power and she drank from him, she would have gained it - even if only temporarily.(show spoiler) That's my only guess at this point. Hope that helps some :)

I remember Cat (hide spoiler) drinking from Mencheres when she just woke up as a vampire but the only power I remember her using is the one she got from Vlad. She used it when she was trying to save her mother and she used it at the duel.(show spoiler) I thought that was all she did.
