Series: Poirot #11 *Applause.* I feel a bit as if this was Christie’s response to Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s The Hound of the Baskervilles. As in that book, our detective disappears near the beginning only to reappear halfway through. Instead of Poirot, we get to witness the sleuthing talents of S...
This book did start off really slow. The first few pages were setting the scene so to speak and it was good to set up all of the characters. However, this story was told from Hercule Poirot's friend Mr. Satterthwaite third person point of view. I realize that I really don't care for most of the Poir...
"Am I being a complete fanciful ass, or does this business remind you of—of—?’ ‘Of that business at Loomouth? Yes, it does. But of course we may be mistaken. The resemblance may be only superficial. After all, sudden deaths occur the whole time from a variety of causes.’ " Really, the whole time? ...
No doubt a good Agatha Christie novel. Couldn't figure it out who the killer and I was suprised. I really was. My problem with the book was the lack of... Herculae Poirot. More than half the book has no Poirot in it. The "play" is set by three other characters. Mr Satterthwaite, Sir Charles Cartwrig...
This is my first time reading this book but I've seen the recent Masterpiece Mystery version of this book so I knew who was the murderer. Regardless, it was interesting to see how Mrs. Christie created a story almost in the format of a play. The TV version is excellent but there was a lot of nuances...
Almost a four-star rating for this 11th Poirot mystery from Agatha Christie. The story was very refreshing and unlike most of the other Poirot's not written from Hasting's first person. It's funny to see how Christie mocks the whole detective genre in this book and I was very surprised by the confi...
Audiobook.I listened to this and kept going back and forth on whether I had already read the book. Parts sounded so similar. Finally at the end I remembered who did it so I can confirm that this is at least the 2nd reading. Not enough Poirot which affected my rating. He was almost superfluous.
3.5 starsI listened to the audio book, which made it a little hard to keep track of all the characters, but I enjoyed the complexity of this mystery. It also seemed to have more humor than a lot of Agatha's other works. I loved hearing Hercule Poirot's explanation at the end about why he sometimes p...
I might have been finished with this review earlier but I was a bit TOO BUSY REFRESHING POTTERMORE FOR THE DAMN CLUE.Anyway.Three Act tragedy was, in my opinion, not one of Chrisite's best works. Maybe I have read too many of her books by now to recognise her style, because I knew who the culprit wa...
