by Tim Curran This was wonderfully atmospheric. From the Prologue: "Shut your mind down, shut it right down or they will hear you thinking and if they hear you thinking they will find you." How many children have hidden under their blankets in the dark thinking just this? Invoking our childhoo...
by Tim Curran I've been hearing Tim Curran is good for some time and have had this one and Dead Sea on my Kindle for a while, so I finally decided it's about time I read one of his books! This one called me first. I could see right away that the writing was good. The cover was enough to tell me ...
Splatterpunk Fighting Back by MULTIPLE My rating: 4 of 5 stars The definition of "splatterpunk" should give an idea of what this volume entails: characterised by the explicit description of horrific, violent, or pornographic scenes. With an abundance of monsters, gore, and sexual tones, it stays tru...
Splatterpunk Fighting Back is a charity anthology with proceeds going towards cancer. I have a love/hate relationship with anthologies/collections/whatever you want to call them. I love reading them because even if a story isn’t working for me it’s usually over quickly but I dread reviewing them. Th...
Christina was visiting her mother's grave when a nearby headstone surrounded by weeds caught her eye. It saddened her that it wasn't taken care of and kept up like all the others. She decided to clear the weeds and tidy it up. It all seemed so innocent. A good deed, really. But there was more to tha...
Post-reading:This novella did not redeem itself for me. Curran has a great idea here with his time gateway, which is the only reason I am giving this 2 stars instead of 1. My copy is marked up with spelling, punctuation, grammatical, and consistency errors. I would love for the author to see all of ...
The Predator /Alien influence in this one is undeniable, but it definitely has the signature Curran stamp on it. There was even a little Heartbreak Ridge Sgt. Highway going on here. Cool. You can’t go wrong with Tim Curran. An entertaining and fast moving creature feature. 3.5+ Stars.
As a subscriber to Darkfuse Magazine, I read all but one or two of these on-line prior to getting the collection. This was a very good mix of stories and a good introduction to some new-to-me authors. I think I may have dry heaved once or twice while reading these twisted tales. Thanks, Mike Thorn! ...
A few years ago, thanks to the Horror Aficionados group on Goodreads, I discovered a new-to-me author when it was suggested I check out Dead Sea by Tim Curran. I don't remember which awesome reader suggested it, but I owe that person a huge, hearty thank you. I devoured that book and instantly bough...
“So kind. So caring. What a fine mother you shall be.”Christina does a good deed. While typically, I am a fan of trying to do good deeds, in this particular case it just didn’t work out for Christina because she just attached herself to something evil that wants to call her Mommy. Damn you, good dee...
